Everyone can be an affiliate marketer. Not everyone can be a successful internet marketer. It takes a lot of work to generate sales. You can’t simply put up a page and expect to start making money. The good news is, with a few tips and a little work; you can be successful and make money from home.
Tip 1 – Size Up Your Merchants
You are only as good as the products you are trying to sell. The products you are selling at only as good as the merchants offering them. You have your choice from thousands of products. Take your time and make sure the merchant you are dealing with is reputable. It is not always the best practice to choose the products that offer the highest commission. Most affiliates choose products based on who pays the highest commissions. This is not always the best practice. When deciding on products, you need to look for merchants that have a good reputation and offer quality products. You also want to look at their sell through rate to find merchants whose products convert easily.

Tip 2 – Find Your Niche
Let’s face it; there are millions of products you can sell. In order to make a sale however, you need to get customers to your site. If you have a site that sells everything from acne cream to xylophone lessons, you will have a hard time getting visitors (and customers) to your site. When you choose a niche, you have a better opportunity to become an expert on your products. When you are perceived as an expert, customers will look to you for advice.
Choosing a niche does not mean that you will only sell one product. You can sell several products that are associated with your niche. For example, if you choose the weight loss niche, you can offer exercise plans, supplements and exercise equipment. Just make sure all of your products fall into your niche.
Tip 3 – Check Your Statistics Frequently
If you are going to be a successful Affiliate Marketer, you need to keep track of your statistics. You need to know if the products you are promoting are selling. Once again, you have unlimited products to choose from. Not every product will sell well. Check you affiliate site daily to see which products are selling. If a product is not performing well, do not be scared to switch products. Statistics are your roadmap to success. Watch it closely and let your business change directions when necessary.

Tip 4 – Use Original Content
One of the biggest mistakes bloggers make is posting duplicate content. Sure, you can find free content for your site from article sites. I do not recommend you use these articles. It is a quick and easy way to get content for your site, but you will be penalized. Search engines scan your site and look for duplicate content. If they find duplicate content on your site, they will move you down the search engine rankings. Additionally, you want to be an expert in your field. When people visit your site, they want original content, not articles that are floating on sites throughout the internet. If you do not have time to write original articles, hire a freelancer to write articles for you. This will ensure you have constantly updated content that is only found on your site.

Tip 5 – Change is a Good Thing
If your site is going to be found, you need to not only rank high on search engines, you need to keep a high ranking. In order to do this, you site needs to continuously evolve. Google searches your site weekly. If your site does not change, the spyders do not search your sight as often and you will drop in the rankings. Likewise, if you do not change your site frequently, visitors will become bored and stop visiting your site. You want to keep your readers interest. Making small changes will keep them coming back to see what is new. This can be as simple as changing articles or running specials. When you change the content on your site, you will keep the readers and the search engines coming back for more.
Succeeding in Affiliate marketing is not as simple as having a website. Anyone can have a web site. You need to work each day to make sure that your business evolves. Use these tips and you can achieve success in Affiliate Marketing.

I’ve talked quite a bit about Facebook Fan Pages in this blog. Today, I’m going to teach you how to set one up. Once your page is set up, you can scroll through the blog and find important information about how to use your Fan Page.
Let’s get started with setting the page up. Go to Facebook and click on “Create a Page for a Celebrity, Band or Business.”

Now you have to choose the type of Fan Page you want to create. If you run your own business, you will choose “Local Business or Place.” If you’re an affiliate marketer, you will select “Brand or Product.” The exception to this is for affiliate marketers who have created an LLC. If you have actually formed a business, you can choose “Local Business or Place.”

Once you choose what type of page you have, you need to choose a category and name your page. If I’m using my page to sell diet pills, I might name the page “Discount Diet Pills.” On the other hand, if I have my own business, I will use my business name.

Then, you have to agree to the Facebook Pages Terms, and click “Get Started.”
Now you’ll have to sign in with an existing Facebook account, or create a new one. If you already have an account, select “I already have a Facebook account” and enter your email address and password and click “Log in.” if you don’t already have an account, you will need to input some information and create an account.

Once you sign in or set up your account, you will be taken to your Facebook page. The first thing you need to do is upload an image. Select a company logo or a picture that is related to the products you market.
Once you find the picture, click “Upload an Image,” and make your selection.

Then, click “Edit Info.”
From there, you will enter your company overview, about section, description, product list and more. We will give you some great tips for optimizing this section in the next post. For now though, enter your information and click “Save changes.”
Now you have a Facebook Fan Page.

If you have a Facebook Fan Page, you have access to countless Facebook apps. These apps will help you promote your business, get more fans and turn your page into a great marketing tool. While there are hundreds of great apps, I’m going to go over the five essential apps you need to include on your Facebook Fan Page.
Before I get into the different types of apps, I’m going to explain how to get them. Just go to the Facebook App Directory at http://www.facebook.com/apps/directory.php. Once there, click on “Business” and you will see the different apps for your Facebook Fan Page. Now that you know how to access the apps, we are going to go over the top five.
Fan Offer

This app is a great way to build your fan base. You will create an offer or a coupon. Then, the Fan Offer app will build a welcome page for “non-fans.” Non-fans will enter your Facebook page via the welcome page. The page will tell non-fans that they just have to “Like” your page to receive the offer or coupon. Once they “Like” the page, they will receive the special offer.
You have to pay $19 a month to use this app. If you learn how to monetize your fan base, $19 is a small price to pay for new “Likes.”
You could also have someone just custom create a “welcome” page for your Facebook Fan Page. Check out my Fan page (and like it if you haven’t!) mine has no monthly fee, but I did pay someone a decent amount up front to get it done like this.
Become An Anthony Morrison Fan on Facebook – Right Now
Promotions

The “Promotions” app is next on the list. Just as the name suggests, this app will help you run promotions on your Facebook page. These promotions can come in many different forms, including contests, sweepstakes, coupons and giveaways.
You do have to pay to run promotions with this app. However, if your promotions help you get more customers, the money you pay will be well worth it.
Networked Blogs

If your blog is going to help you sell products, you need to have readers. The Networked Blogs app will help you build a strong following. You can use the app to import your blog feed to your Facebook page. Then, your Facebook fans can go through your posts and help your blog become as popular as your Facebook page is.
Constant Contact, iContact or Mail Chimp

If you doing any type of online marketing, there’s a good chance that you use an auto responder to collect email addresses. Fortunately, Facebook makes this easier by offering apps for Constant Contact, iContact and Mail Chimp. Once you download the app, you will be able to collect email addresses right from your fan page.
Tweet Tab

This app will create a “Twitter” tab on your Facebook Fan Page. The tab will display your Twitter feed. This feed will be updated every three minutes.
You can include up to 18 Twitter accounts on your Tweet Tab. This is great for people who use different Twitter accounts for different products.
Spend some time familiarizing yourself with these apps today. Once you understand their features, install them so they can help you build an online following.

The internet is full of potential customers. They log onto their computers every day, and they are floating around cyberspace, just waiting to be snatched up. If you want to reach out to these potential customers and build a relationship with them, you need to take advantage of real time search results.
What is Real Time Search?
Real time search is another name for Google search results that are displayed in real time.

These results include:
- Facebook fan page posts
- Tweets
- Quora
- Buzz
People can receive real time results by going to Google and clicking on “Real Time Results.” Then, they can type in their search phrase and real time results will come up.
What This Means for You
By using real time results as part of your marketing strategy, you can send information and updates to potential clients immediately. For instance, if you are having a sale on tennis shoes, you can create a Facebook post, tweet, or Buzz about the sale. Then, if someone searches for “tennis shoes” in real time, they will receive information about your sale. You will basically get to talk to the client directly, since you will post something and he will read it within minutes, if not seconds of the post.
How to Get the Best Results
If you are going to get the best results with real time search, you have to create posts that contain keywords people will use when searching the web. F or example, if you market golf supplies, brainstorm for keywords that are relevant to your topic. What would people search for if they were looking for one of your products? Maybe they would look for:
- Affordable golf clubs
- Deals on golf supplies
- Taylormade golf clubs
You could use these words in your posts. For example, you could create a post that said, “Check out our inventory of affordable golf clubs.”

Then, you could write a second post that said, “We have hot deals on golf supplies. Up to 40% off.”
Finally, you could post, “Our Taylormade golf clubs are the cheapest in town.”
Check Your Statistics
After you create different posts, you need to check your results. You will do this differently, depending on the social networking platform you are using.
If you are using Facebook, go to Facebook Insights. You will be able to see the statistics for each post.
If you are using Twitter, use Tweetburner to send your Tweets. Be sure to include a link. Tweetburner will track the number of times the link was clicked on. You can log into your Tweetburner account at any time to check the statistics.
If you use Google Buzz, you need to wait for the Buzz Stats’ update to come out. Then, you can use it to track your posts.
If you use Quora, you will not be able to track your stats at this time. However, that could change, as the site becomes more popular.
Spend some time today trying to break into the real time search results. It will take some practice, since you need to find the right keywords. Once you get that part down, though, you will be able to reap the benefits of real time search.

When you sell several types of products, it’s time consuming to write ads for each product. Fortunately, dynamic keyword insertion can cut down on the time it takes to create ads. Additionally, it will help you display highly targeted ads to users.
What is Dynamic Keyword Insertion?
Dynamic keyword insertion is the process of having your pay-per-click (PPC) or pay-per-impression (CPM) provider (i.e. AdWords, Microsoft AdCenter, etc) insert specific keywords into an ad for you. You will leave a place for the keyword, and the system will automatically fill it in with the appropriate word.
In order to understand this, let’s look at an example.
Assume you sell office furniture. You create an ad that says:

This ad is generic. It only advertises office furniture. There are lots of different kinds of office furniture out there, so people who are looking for a specific type probably won’t click on your ad.
You can use dynamic keyword insertion to make the ad more specific. In order to do this, you will need to replace “office furniture” with a dynamic keyword. Thus, you would have:

Then you would set up your dynamic keywords. In this example, you would choose types of office furniture. For instance, let’s say you sell:
- Office desks
- Office chairs
- Conference tables
Thus, your dynamic keywords would be:
- Office desks
- Office chairs
- Conference tables
Then, if someone came online and searched for “office desks,” the dynamic key phrase “office desks” would be inserted into the ad. Thus, the ad would say:

Since the person specially searched for office desks, he will be interested in your ad.
As you can see, dynamic keyword insertion can save you time and help you create highly targeted ads. Go through your CPM and PPC campaigns and see if dynamic keywords can spice up your ads and help with conversions.

I did a blog a week or so ago about “what motivates you” to be successful. I had massive response to that video blog with well over 100 comments letting us all know what “you” are motivated by. It was overall one of the best blogs I have put out in quite some time and it got me thinking about my bucket list. You know the things we really want out of our lives and hope to achieve someday (there was even a movie made about it…) ok ok so you get it. I figured it would be cool to share my bucket list with you and for you to post yours in the comments below. It’s always good to write down and visualize the things we want in life… that’s what I am doing right now.
Anthony Morrison’s Bucket List
1. To Start A Company That Reaches The INC 500 – Yea I know this probably isn’t everyone’s big goal in life, but it certainly is for me. I have started so many companies and had a ton of success, but I have never made it on this list. The requirements go far and beyond “just create a big successful company” so I am still shooting for it. I certainly want to achieve this sooner rather than later. Like I said money isn’t always our motivation for me I am motivated simply by the accomplishment of making it on this list. Wish me luck
2. To Take A Company Public – Yep another one of my goals that seems really crazy. This has been on my bucket list for years now and it hasn’t happened. Going public just requires so many different pieces to fit just perfectly. It’s certainly an accomplishment if you can pull it off, which is exactly why it’s on my list!
3. To Be In A Movie – I know this one sounds even crazier than the others huh? I just would love to be in a movie once in my lifetime. Not some big star role just something minor so I can say yeah I scratched that one off my bucket list. After all who doesn’t want to be in a movie? really…
4. Own A Baseball Team – I would love to own the Chicago Cubs, but honestly I will settle for any sports team at this point. I figure if I can’t play, can’t manage maybe I should own! I am good at business and that is kinda what’s required to be an owner right? Pretty far out there dream but if you don’t at least dream you can’t ever reach goals you never thought possible. So I am keeping this one on my list.
5. Cover of Entrepreneur Magazine – I’ve been trying forever to get on the cover of this magazine. I feel like I fit pretty well, but it’s not easy as you all know I am not the only person on planet earth that is successful, in fact many others have taught me things I obviously didn’t know. So again this is something I will continue to strive for in my career.
6. Travel The World - I would love to take some time off and just travel around the world. I have only left the country for Canada and Mexico and that was just recently. I travel, but normally I keep it within the US. I would love to visit places like Brazil, Argentina, Jamaica, and all of those islands in the Caribbean!
7. Get Married – Probably not something everyone is gonna be all inspired by right ? but my parents have had a very long relationship and taught myself and my brother and sister how marriage is really suppose to be. I hope that I can have exactly what they’ve had for 30+ years.
8. Own A House On The Beach – I love the beach (particularly the Gulf beaches) and I’ve always dreamed of owning a vacation house right on the beach. Somewhere in Destin, Fl or Clearwater, FL would be really nice. I can see myself waking up each day and working from the beach!
9. A Big Yacht - I would love one of those big Yacht’s you see these billionaire’s floating around on! How awesome would it be to just be able to hop on your boat and cruise on down to the Caribbean islands for the weekend? We can all dream right!
10. Have A Net Worth Of 100 Million – YEA I saved this for last for a good reason lol… but again we can all dream!
I’ve already accomplished quite a bit in my life and crossed a few things off that would otherwise still be on my list like…
1. Writing a book – I’ve now written 2 and loved every second of it!
2. Owning a Viper – Love Dodge Vipers and the first thing I did when I started making big money in affiliate marketing was buy 2 of them!
3. Owning a Lamborghini – I am a car nut. My family has always been a “car family” so I grew up loving cars… never dreamed I would own one, but now I do.
4. Home Owner – Was always on my list and as of August 2010 I crossed it off the list!
5. Be on TV – Been on for 2 years and love every minute of it. Just an accomplishment that I always wanted.
So what’s on your bucket list? If you haven’t figured out by now creating income streams from the Internet obviously helps you achieve what’s on your list either by giving you the free time or the money to make them happen. It sorta goes back to what motivates you? Things on your bucket list are probably right on up there with eliminate debt, retire, save for college etc…

I know many of you are new to the affiliate marketing industry so I want to make sure you take full advantage of everything available to help you create success. In this blog I am going to list some of the things that you can do to help prepare yourself for success and to avoid the pitfalls that some new affiliate marketers fall into. So without further waiting….. here are my tips:
1. Attend Industry Events - Attend trade shows such as ad:tech and Affiliate Summit. While you are there you can walk around and meet with affiliate managers from the networks, find new networks to work with, and chat with some of the most successful affiliates on the planet. These industry events are surely the best way to make the connections you need to help further your success in this industry Many of the most successful affiliates attend these events year after year to continue learning from each other. This is a great way to get “insider” tips from super affiliates without spending any money on other educational courses. These events always have “seminar sessions” where some of the top affiliates and marketers will share tips, techniques and information to help you jump start your success. I’ve been attending for years now, and so should you!
2. Pick a Vertical – Some of the most popular verticals are Credit, Dating, Diet, Auto, Education, Mobile, Coupons. Once you select your vertical stay true to it and continue to market offers within that vertical. The reason I think this is so important is because as a new affiliate it’s hard to learn everything at one time. It’s like building a house you need to do it step by step and in a methodical manor. Running out here and trying to dominate every vertical isn’t smart, especially if you haven’t even found success in anything to date. So my advice is to pick a vertical and stick to it. Learn it and master it. Once you create success in order to make your business grow, simply go into other verticals and learn them one by one.
3. Choosing Your Traffic Source – Again it’s very important to select one or two types of traffic and master driving traffic that way. It makes no sense to try to learn everything at one time. There are affiliates making money in every vertical with every combination of traffic source you can think of, trust me. So that means no matter what you choose you have the potential to be successful. I suggest you start with search and display advertising with a mix of social media. Once you’ve mastered this you can move into some of the more advanced “and risky” advertising like direct cpv and media buying. Following this pattern allows you to limit your “risk” and still obtain that reward you want, which is successful campaigns.
ALWAYS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF FREE MONEY !!! (SEE BELOW FOR DETAILS)

So I have been doing a great series on how to write “killer PPC ads” on my video blog for the last few weeks. If you haven’t watched them yet check them out now (just visit www.anthonymorrison.com) the videos really rock. Some people left some comments about “how to go social” and “does it cost a fortune” to advertise on social media sites. I suppose when you look at Facebook being worth BILLIONS of dollars and you realize it’s all because of advertising revenue…. one could easily assume it cost a ton of money to generate traffic from social media networks.
The fact is that, yes, you can spend a lot of money advertising on social media networks, however, you don’t have to spend money in order to still garner some traffic and success. Facebook offers the “paid advertising” which is sure to generate more traffic and exposure to your site, however, they also offer things like fan pages, status updates, likes and wall comments. You can easily gain some traffic to your offers by just using the free spots on Facebook to post about your business. If it’s free why not do it right?
What about Twitter? Well we all know that Twitter is free and you can easily promote things on your Twitter feed. Of course you need followers in order to make that really happen on a large scale. Obtaining followers isn’t as easy as “follow me and ill follow you” at least not if you want your Twitter account to actually be of worth to your business. You need people to follow you because they WANT to hear what you have to say. I have found that by Tweeting often people will follow you and “re-tweet” what you have to say. This helps you build a following that actually wants to follow you for the right reasons. Promoting your business is then pretty simple, and free.
Again these are not knock down 10000% ways to generate millions of people and millions of dollars. They are, however, very good ways to generate traffic too your website free of charge. Over the years I have developed some software that automates the entire process of advertising on Facebook and Tweeting on Twitter. You can check out the page by just visiting here SocialAdsPro Software this is my own personal software and it rocks!
So in closing this weeks blog make sure you are utilizing every opportunity before you to generate traffic and customers to your website and affiliate offers. Focusing on the paid advertising is great, but don’t neglect the free opportunities that exist within just about every single social network I have ever seen. It might sound like “not much” but remember 100 pennies = 1 dollar right? Build up a lot of free traffic and it can cumulatively equal a substantial amount.
PS: Don’t forget to checkout the SocialAdsPro Software

One of the things we as Affiliates need to understand is that we are building a business BUT NOT the traditionally “corporate” way. We don’t need business plans, minute meetings, forcasting, quarterly reports and all of those things to be successful. Those things, in fact, might be the demise of any affiliate business on earth. So it’s important to me to let you all know (because I know that some of you reading this are business majors) that traditional business schooling isn’t going to get you anywhere in this industry.
You simply can’t “forecast” things when you are an affiliate. As an affiliate you need to be able to change and adapt quickly to changes in the marketplace. I’ll never forget my first experience with this exact thing. Here’s an outline of what happened..
A few years ago I was marketing on Yahoo! and I had a few accounts (probably 8 or so) and at the time Yahoo! let you bid for placement. That just meant whoever bid the most was the #1 results and then on down the line based ONLY on the amount of money you were willing to pay per click. I developed my method for getting my traffic at the prices I was comfortable with and I was on my way. This, however, all changed when Yahoo! decided that it no longer was going to let you just “bid for placement” meaning you were not guaranteed to show up #1 even if you have the highest bid per click. Now all of the sudden relevancy matters. This meant changing ads, marketing techniques, landing pages and so much more IN 8 DIFFERENT ACCOUNTS.
See there was no way to forecast that change that Yahoo! made and how it would affect my business. I was easily able to adapt and change my strategy and stay in the game generating good money, but it wasn’t the same as it previously had been.
The lesson you should learn here is quite simple. You need a plan of action (you can grab my full year plan 365 DAY PLAN if you like) in order to be successful. You can’t just go in blind, but you also need to have the ability to adapt to changes in the marketplace. Focus your time on these things rather than on forecasting and creating business plans and such. As an affiliate you will end up more successful this way!
Enjoy your weekend.

First I would like to announce this week’s winner of the $50 gift card (hopefully to be used for advertising your business): Ken Hunter (posted Jan 17, 2011) Post #79 (email me asap Ken)
Now here is where it get’s really interesting for all of my blog readers. I know you are all use to me doing video blogs (and yes I plan to get back to those), however, I noticed something really special when I decided to give away that first $50 gift card EXPLOSION of comments and interactivity. This is what makes YOU learn and grow you simply must be interacting on a weekly basis. So I have decided that I will continue this $50/week giveaway as long as you continue to come here and comment on the blog, Tweet the blog and Like it on Facebook. It’s pretty simple and with 52 weeks in a year you have a great chance of winning. So with that said…. on to this weeks blog topic.
What’s Hot RIGHT NOW –
Remember that marketing online is something that you do all year long, however, there are certain times that are “peak times” for certain types of things. Below I am going to list some of the rules I use when doing my online marketing to help you better understand what I am talking about:
1st Quarter of The Year - Weight loss products are big in demand simply because everyone’s resolution for the new year is to lose weight and look better. That also means beauty supply products are in huge demand. There is an enormous spike in searches for these types of products in January/Feb and even on into March. You can also lump those “As Seen on TV” Ab Rollers and Gliders and things like that into this category. Basically anything that can make you look better and get in shape be it products, vitamins or workout courses are really hot this time of year!
2nd Quarter of The Year – Travel is hooooot. Why? well think about it when do most people travel? Typically during the summer. This means everything from marketing credit cards (yep most people put travel/vacations on credit cards) to hotels and flights are big this time of year. You can also look at those things like destination resorts (think Disney World) which typically offer some kind of affiliate program to refer people to certain package deals they have in place. Anything that has to do with travel can also be big this time of year just like luggage. You might not typically think of luggage being a big deal, but when people have to travel they must have luggage.
3rd Quarter of The Year – Think Back To School. So you’ll have the typical school supplies and such online, but the market is so much broader than just that. You’re going to have kids going away to college and typically parents are getting them their first “credit card” so think “student credit cards” or even “gas reward cards” because of the travel to and from college. You also need to think apparel because so many kids get those “back to school clothes” and quite a few will shop online for bargains. Again it’s all about just understanding what is going on in our world.
4th Quarter of The Year - Think SANTA CLAUS. Plain and simple people start shopping for Christmas and they don’t stop until … sometimes after Christmas. Anything retail is going to be extremely HOT this time of year. Amazon gets a huge spike in sales (think Amazon affiliate program) and eBay crushes it (think eBay affiliate program). These are just two of the more common and extremely huge opportunities you have this time of year to cash in on the hundreds of millions of dollars spent online.
I hope you found this blog informative. My goal is to prep you now for what you need to do for the rest of the year. Basically helping you create your game plan for 2011 so you can create that massive success you want!
