Building an Email List with a Premium

June 3rd, 2011   posted by MarketingExpert in Email Marketing

This weeks $50 winner is  Lisa Lankford says: May 28, 2011 at 4:10 pm This is very usefull information that I did not know anything about! Thanks for another great tip! Lisa please email me immediately so I can send out your $50 gift card!

Email marketing is a great way to promote products. Whether you are selling affiliate products or your own merchandise, a solid email list will help you reach large numbers of people in a short period of time.  First, though, you have to build the email list up.  One of the best ways to do that is to offer a premium.

What is a Premium?

A premium is a free giveaway that’s related to the products you are marketing.  For instance, if you are marketing diet products, you could create a premium that’s filled with dieting tips.

Then, when people visit your site, they will have the opportunity to get the premium. First, though, they would have to sign up for your email list.  Then, they will receive the premium, along with marketing emails.

This is a great system, but in order for it to work, you have to create a premium that has value.  Otherwise, your email list will not be receptive to your offers.

In order to understand this, let’s look at an example.

Joe markets pet supplies.  He wants to build his email list, so he decides to create a premium that’s titled, “5 Products Your Pet Can’t Live Without.”  He goes to Google and types in “necessary pet products.”  He gets all of his research from the first few sites he sees and creates his premium.

Bill goes to Joe’s website and sees the premium. He enters his information and receives the free report.

He opens the report, and he’s immediately disappointed since the information in the report is the same information available on the internet.  Because Joe didn’t deliver with his premium, Bill ignores his emails.  He doesn’t trust Joe, so he doesn’t want to purchase anything from him.

Joe realizes the error of his ways and creates another premium. This one includes inside knowledge and great tips.  When the next person signs up for his list and receives his premium, he is pleased.  He trusts Joe, and is receptive to his marketing emails. In fact, he purchases several of Joe’s affiliate products and becomes a great customer.

As you can see, the right premium can go a long away in building your email list and creating a relationship with your customers.  Take some time in creating your premium so it will provide the type of value your readers crave.

Writing Ad Copy with Dynamic Keywords

May 27th, 2011   posted by MarketingExpert in Affiliate Marketing, Internet Marketing

Our $50 winner this week is Betty Todd says: May 21, 2011 at 11:55 am (Edit) Thank You Anthony! This was great information! I can’t wait to get my Website completed and published… I will certainly give this a try! Thanks again! Congrats Betty! Send me an email with your information and we’ll get your $50 gift card on the way!

When you sell several types of products, it’s time consuming to write ads for each product.  Fortunately, dynamic keyword insertion can cut down on the time it takes to create ads.  Additionally, it will help you display highly targeted ads to users.

What is Dynamic Keyword Insertion?

Dynamic keyword insertion is the process of having your pay-per-click (PPC) or pay-per-impression (CPM) provider (i.e. AdWords, Microsoft AdCenter, etc) insert specific keywords into an ad for you. You will leave a place for the keyword, and the system will automatically fill it in with the appropriate word.

In order to understand this, let’s look at an example.

Assume you sell office furniture.  You create an ad that says:

This ad is generic. It only advertises office furniture. There are lots of different kinds of office furniture out there, so people who are looking for a specific type probably won’t click on your ad.

You can use dynamic keyword insertion to make the ad more specific.  In order to do this, you will need to replace “office furniture” with a dynamic keyword.  Thus, you would have:

Then you would set up your dynamic keywords. In this example, you would choose types of office furniture.  For instance, let’s say you sell:

  • Office desks
  • Office chairs
  • Conference tables

Thus, your dynamic keywords would be:

  • Office desks
  • Office chairs
  • Conference tables

Then, if someone came online and searched for “office desks,” the dynamic key phrase “office desks” would be inserted into the ad.  Thus, the ad would say:

Since the person specially searched for office desks, he will be interested in your ad.

As you can see, dynamic keyword insertion can save you time and help you create highly targeted ads.  Go through your CPM and PPC campaigns and see if dynamic keywords can spice up your ads and help with conversions.

Make Your Facebook Posts Count

May 20th, 2011   posted by MarketingExpert in Facebook Marketing Tips

This weeks $50 winner is Stan Bookstaber says: May 14, 2011 at 8:46 pm (Edit) Wellness products are my niche. Helping people feel great, naturally. Failure only sets you up for the next success. How can you know success if you don’t fail first? Congrats on winning Stan please email me so I can send you your $50 gift card.

When you look at your Facebook wall, what do you see?  You probably see an influx of information coming in from a countless steam of friends. For every several posts that you see, you likely miss one or two since there is such a flood of information on a Facebook wall.  If you’re missing posts, your Facebook fans are missing posts as well.  In fact, they are probably missing some posts that are directly related to your business.

Fortunately, Facebook is making it easier for your marketing posts to stand out from the crowd.  They are now offering a “Page Post Story” with Facebook Ads.

Here’s how it works.  You go to Facebook ads, but instead of creating an ad, you select a Page Post Story. Now, Facebook will pull the last post you made on your page.  That post will be turned into an ad, which will display on the side of people’s Facebook pages.

Let’s see why this is so important.

Assume you have a pet care business, and you are offering 20% off for the weekend.  You create a post that says:

You post it on your wall, but the post gets buried among all of the other posts.  Most of your fan base doesn’t even see it.

Then you get the bright idea to make it a Page Post Story.  Now, your post is visible to all of your Facebook fans. The next thing you know, your phone is ringing off the hook, since your fans want to take advantage of that special.

That’s how Page Post Stories Work.

Advertising is all about getting noticed, and Page Post Stories are yet another way to get noticed.  If you want Facebook to work for you, people have to see your message.  That’s why you need to give Page Post Stories a try.

Email Marketing-The Power of the Opt-in Form

May 13th, 2011   posted by MarketingExpert in Email Marketing

Our $50 winner this week is Jennifer Salinas says: May 11, 2011 at 10:30 pm Great Bucket list Funny, I was just talking of start writing my buckets list up. to summarize, to be debt free, travel, dance in the rain, and get plenty of laugh lines, and love like there’s no tommarrow;). Congrats Jennifer please email me your information so I can send out your $50 gift card!

Email marketing is one of the best ways to make money online. In order for the process to work, though, you have to have powerful emails, great subject lines, amazing premiums, hot offers and the perfect opt-in box.  Today, we are going to cover the opt-in box.

The opt-in box is the form that email marketers place on websites in order to collect names and email addresses.

Lots of email marketers make mistakes when it comes to their opt-in forms.  Because of that, we are going to teach you two simple concepts that will help you design a great opt-in form. You need to:

  • Keep it short
  • Personalize the sign up button

Keeping it Short

People often mess up when it comes to choosing the length for their opt-in boxes.  Many marketers think the opt-in box is a great way to get loads of information from potential customers.  Because of that, they ask for everything, from their name to their favorite activities.

When people see long forms, two things happen. First, they are overwhelmed. They don’t want to dedicate so much time to filling out a form.  Second, they are a bit nervous. They don’t know you well enough to give so much information.

Because of these feelings, they will close out of your website and go elsewhere.

You can avoid this problem by creating a short form. Only ask for the person’s:

  • Name
    • Do not ask for first and last name.  Just ask for the name.  Most people will include their first and last name, even if they are not asked to do so.
  • Email address

Since the form is short, people will fill it out in order to receive your premium and join your list.

Now let’s look at personalizing the form.

Personalizing the Sign Up Button

The sign up button is also important.  The standard button says “Sign Up,” or something similar.  You can personalize it by replacing “Sign Up” with a call to action.

For example, let’s say you are giving away a free report to everyone who signs up. Instead of having “Sign Up,” you could put “Get my free report.”

This simple call to action will help you get more signups.  People will associate signing up with getting the free item, and they will flock to your list.

Now you are ready to increase your opt-in rates. While these two tips are only pieces of the email marketing puzzle, they will help you build up your list so you can get more customers.

What’s On Your Bucket List? Here’s Mine..

May 6th, 2011   posted by admin in Motivation

I did a blog a week or so ago about “what motivates you” to be successful. I had massive response to that video blog with well over 100 comments letting us all know what “you” are motivated by. It was overall one of the best blogs I have put out in quite some time and it got me thinking about my bucket list. You know the things we really want out of our lives and hope to achieve someday (there was even a movie made about it…) ok ok so you get it. I figured it would be cool to share my bucket list with you and for you to post yours in the comments below. It’s always good to write down and visualize the things we want in life… that’s what I am doing right now.

Anthony Morrison’s Bucket List

1. To Start A Company That Reaches The INC 500 – Yea I know this probably isn’t everyone’s big goal in life, but it certainly is for me. I have started so many companies and had a ton of success, but I have never made it on this list. The requirements go far and beyond “just create a big successful company” so I am still shooting for it. I certainly want to achieve this sooner rather than later. Like I said money isn’t always our motivation for me I am motivated simply by the accomplishment of making it on this list. Wish me luck :)

2. To Take A Company Public – Yep another one of my goals that seems really crazy. This has been on my bucket list for years now and it hasn’t happened. Going public just requires so many different pieces to fit just perfectly. It’s certainly an accomplishment if you can pull it off, which is exactly why it’s on my list!

3. To Be In A Movie – I know this one sounds even crazier than the others huh? I just would love to be in a movie once in my lifetime. Not some big star role just something minor so I can say yeah I scratched that one off my bucket list. After all who doesn’t want to be in a movie? really…

4. Own A Baseball Team – I would love to own the Chicago Cubs, but honestly I will settle for any sports team at this point. I figure if I can’t play, can’t manage maybe I should own! I am good at business and that is kinda what’s required to be an owner right? Pretty far out there dream but if you don’t at least dream you can’t ever reach goals you never thought possible. So I am keeping this one on my list.

5. Cover of Entrepreneur Magazine – I’ve been trying forever to get on the cover of this magazine. I feel like I fit pretty well, but it’s not easy as you all know I am not the only person on planet earth that is successful, in fact many others have taught me things I obviously didn’t know. So again this is something I will continue to strive for in my career.

6. Travel The World - I would love to take some time off and just travel around the world. I have only left the country for Canada and Mexico and that was just recently. I travel, but normally I keep it within the US. I would love to visit places like Brazil, Argentina, Jamaica, and all of those islands in the Caribbean!

7. Get Married – Probably not something everyone is gonna be all inspired by right ? but my parents have had a very long relationship and taught myself and my brother and sister how marriage is really suppose to be. I hope that I can have exactly what they’ve had for 30+ years.

8. Own A House On The Beach – I love the beach (particularly the Gulf beaches) and I’ve always dreamed of owning a vacation house right on the beach. Somewhere in Destin, Fl or Clearwater, FL would be really nice. I can see myself waking up each day and working from the beach!

9. A Big Yacht - I would love one of those big Yacht’s you see these billionaire’s floating around on! How awesome would it be to just be able to hop on your boat and cruise on down to the Caribbean islands for the weekend? We can all dream right!

10. Have A Net Worth Of 100 Million – YEA I saved this for last for a good reason lol… but again we can all dream!

I’ve already accomplished quite a bit in my life and crossed a few things off that would otherwise still be on my list like…

1. Writing a book – I’ve now written 2 and loved every second of it!
2. Owning a Viper – Love Dodge Vipers and the first thing I did when I started making big money in affiliate marketing was buy 2 of them!
3. Owning a Lamborghini – I am a car nut. My family has always been a “car family” so I grew up loving cars… never dreamed I would own one, but now I do.
4. Home Owner – Was always on my list and as of August 2010 I crossed it off the list!
5. Be on TV – Been on for 2 years and love every minute of it. Just an accomplishment that I always wanted.

So what’s on your bucket list? If you haven’t figured out by now creating income streams from the Internet obviously helps you achieve what’s on your list either by giving you the free time or the money to make them happen. It sorta goes back to what motivates you? Things on your bucket list are probably right on up there with eliminate debt, retire, save for college etc…

Call to Action in Your Ad Copy

April 29th, 2011   posted by MarketingExpert in Affiliate Marketing, E-Commerce, Facebook Marketing Tips, Internet Marketing

Pay-per-click and cost-per-impression advertising are two great ways to generate traffic to your website.  When you use PPC or CPM services, you have to write an advertisement. People who click on the ad are directed to your website, where they can make a purchase.  If you want to get lots of people to click on your ad, you need to include a powerful call to action in the copy.

A call to action is just as it sounds.  It’s a line in the copy that compels readers to take action.  In advertising, the desired action is a purchase.  Thus, the call to action should include words that will entice people to make a purchase.

Generic Call to Action

While most advertisers understand the importance of including a call to action, few know how to properly craft one.  Instead of coming up with a compelling call to action, they use generic phrases such as “Order today” or “Buy now.”  These generic phrases don’t elicit a response from readers.

Instead of using a generic call to action, you need to come up with compelling phrases that will actually make someone feel as if he has to take action immediately.  Use phrases like:

  • Download the report
  • Get your quote
  • Get your 20% discount today

Notice that each of these phrases is specific to an actual product or service.  Because of that, they are not generic, and thus, will have more power with the readers.

Evaluate your PPC and CPM ads and see if they will benefit from changes to the call to action.  If so, make those changes so your click through rate and conversions can go up.

Using a Step Process with Affiliate Marketing

April 22nd, 2011   posted by MarketingExpert in Affiliate Marketing

Our $50 winner this week is Daniel L. Eaton ll says: April 16, 2011 at 11:32 am (Edit) Hi Anthony, I do plan on using this technique and learning more from you as well, thank you so much for everything!!! God Bless You & Your Family! Feeling Good Now, Daniel L. Eaton ll CEO. Congrats Daniel please email me your info and ill send out your $50 gift card now!

As humans, we are conditioned to follow a series of steps in order to receive optimal results. That’s why manufacturers include steps on their products. For example, if you download software, you will see a step-by-step guide that you will need to follow to complete the download. The same is true if you start a diet, wash your hair or enroll in school. Most things in life have steps, so people are used to following those steps. They know they need to complete each step to receive the best results, so they don’t even consider eliminating a step. They go on autopilot and complete all of the steps so they can receive the results they want.

You’re probably asking, “How does this apply to affiliate marketing?”

You can link products together and include a step-by-step process. When you do this, you will sell more products, since people will feel compelled to complete each step.

Let’s see how this works.

Assume you market health care and fitness products. You currently advertise for a:

You start off by marketing each product individually. You’re making decent money, but you would like to increase your revenue. In order to do that, you would stop marketing the products separately and start advertising them as parts of a three-step fitness process.

You would throw your old marketing methods out the window and replace them with your new process. Your new plan would look like:

3 Steps to a Healthier You

Step 1-Take the Cleanse
Step 2-Start the diet supplement
Step 3-ride the exercise bike for 45 minutes each day

Follow these three steps and you will have a new, healthier you in as little as two months!

When people see this, they will feel compelled to follow each step. If they only take the cleanse, they won’t receive optimal results. The same is true if they only take the cleanse and ride the bike. They need to follow all three steps if they are going to get the body they want, which means they have to purchase all three products.

Look for products that you can link together and start your own step-by-step process. Then, let me know how this system works for you in the comment section.

Facebook Advertising: Sponsored Stories

April 15th, 2011   posted by MarketingExpert in Facebook Marketing Tips

This weeks $50 Winner is Dave Knob says: April 9, 2011 at 9:16 pm (Edit) The ideal world is elusive yet somehow possible. Sometimes it gets in the way of action and creates a less than ideal situation. Like most people I like to dream but obviously need to focus on current success and baby steps to progress to the my ideal world. Taking action is the current dilemma. Congrats Dave! Please email me  your info so I can send out your $50 gift card.

We’ve been hitting Facebook advertising hard recently, and today, we’re going to add one more concept into the mix.  Facebook recently unveiled a new form of social advertising called Sponsored Stories.  Sponsored Stories include “Like Stories” and “Page Post Stories.”  Today, we’re going to cover “Like Stories.”

Before we dive into this topic, let’s take a look at Facebook.  Facebook is a social networking site. That means people’s actions rely heavily on what their friends are doing.

For example, let’s say you log into Facebook and notice that one of your friends liked a news story.  Chances are, you’ll click on that story to see what it said.

Why?

Because your friend did it, so you should try it too.

This is a herd mentality, and you can capitalize on it with “Like” Stories.

When you use “Like Stories,” ads will appear every time someone likes your page. These ads will show up on their friend’s pages.

For example, if Max likes your page, an ad will display to his friends. The ad will say, “Max liked Business Name.”

Now let’s look at what will happen.

Max’s friends will see Max’s name associated with your business page. this will grab their attention. They will think, “Max likes this page.  I need to check it out.”

They will click on the ad and like your page so they won’t be left out.

By capitalizing on the herd mentality, you can get hundreds if not thousands, of Facebook fans.  Then, you can begin marketing to those fans and driving traffic to your website.

Is Your Ideal World Crushing Your Success?

April 7th, 2011   posted by admin in Entrepreneurship, Motivation

This weeks $50 Winner is Joshua Zamora says: April 2, 2011 at 9:19 am Never ever give up! It’s easy to quit that’s why so many people do it. Like you said people want easy and if success was easy everyone would have it already. I think going through the struggles can also be part of the fun on the journey to success. Those things you look back on when you make it! Congrats Joshua send me an email and ill get this gift card to you asap.

That’s a pretty interesting yet maybe confusing question for you to answer right now isn’t it? Let me ask you this question one more time and then i’ll explain what I mean by the question. Is YOUR ideal world crushing YOUR success? Ok so here is what I mean by this and hopefully you’re going to learn a lot from this blog that can help you create massive success in not only business, but also everything else in your life. You see so often we are fixated on what we perceive to be the “ideal model” that we stress out day in and day out to achieve what we believe to be ideal and forget to focus on the success we’ve had at up to that moment.

We all have our ideal world for whatever we like to do. If we like real estate investing maybe we constantly aspire to be like Donald Trump. If we like sports we always want to be Drew Brees or Alex Rodriguez. If we love business we always want to be CEO and live that crazy luxurious lifestyle. Having this whole “ideal” world is perfectly fine as long as you know how to keep it in it’s place and realize it’s not reality all while pulling new goals for yourself from your ideal world.

Let me give you an example.

You watch my TV show and see how successful I am. You are inspired by my story and success and decided to buy my book and do what I do. Maybe at this point let’s say you know nothing about affiliate marketing, Internet marketing or doing anything on the Internet beside maybe reading email.

Alright so fast forward say 4 months. Let’s say you now have your own blog and it’s coming along nicely. You’ve also setup advertising accounts on Bing and even Facebook. You’ve generated a few hundred dollars and your moving in the right direction.

Here’s where the problem starts. You continue to look FORWARD and think to yourself “well look what Anthony’s doing” and you get caught in this cycle of being unhappy because you constantly feel as if you are not where they need to be. Constantly focusing on this ideal world rather than focusing on how far you’ve come.

Really you should look back at where you started…. you knew nothing about the Internet, nothing about Google and never made a dollar online. Now you have a blog, know how to advertise and have even made some money in the process. Reality is you should be happy and excited about your success right? I mean don’t you deserve a pat on the back?

My point this week is it’s important to pat yourself on the back for the success you’ve had so far rather than punish yourself and stress out because you haven’t reached your ideal goal yet. So make sure this week you focus on being happy with your progress while still pulling new weekly goals from that ideal world you have so you can continue to grow and realize more success.

When You Fail… What Do You Learn?

April 1st, 2011   posted by admin in Entrepreneurship, Motivation

Last weeks $50 Gift Card Winner is Patricia Grant says: March 26, 2011 at 3:06 pm (Edit) Excellent idea writing and prioritizing the order. Lots of great info keeping us informed. On job and in transit by train/bus here in NY. taking time to study and taking lots of notes to get business off and running to obtain my goals faster. Have notepad/pen at my reach at all times. Patricia congrats on winning! Please email me immediately so I can ship out your gift card.

I have heard so many people say “ahhh I am giving up it’s not working” about things they do in their life. It doesn’t matter if it’s a new job or a new business this seems to be the “mindset” of most people. Failure should be looked at as something that is necessary for success. It’s very rare that any entrepreneur becomes successful without some degree of failure. We all want an easier life, but you have to be ok with those bumps in the road on the way there right?

One thing that all successful entrepreneurs seem to have is a very short “recovery period” meaning they recover from failure really fast. They analyze why they failed and then quickly implement strategies to keep it from occurring again. Entrepreneur’s use this “failure” as a way to learn how to be successful not as an excuse to give up and quit. Successful entrepreneur’s learn and grow from failure and eventually come out stronger, better and more profitable from this “learning process”.

My advice to you this week is don’t let failure keep you from achieving your goals. Think like an entrepreneur and let failure teach you the lessons you need to learn to create the success you want to achieve.
