The reason I opted for this “365 day plan” is that I realize one of the things missing from every other program is “accountability”. You see most programs last for 14 days or 30 days… but what does one do at the end of that period of time? That is the thing that puzzled me most. I wondered if maybe the ones that are not successful are simply just “lost” after the training program ends. I polled some of my students and realized this was very true!

Anyway for those of you that don’t know exactly what this event is let me give you just a small overview of what happens and why you need to be here. Basically this is the convention of the year for affiliate marketers. So let’s get started…

Step 1: You need a blog!
Yeah in order to make money from blogging the first thing you need is a blog. WordPress is in my opinion the best, hands down. That’s what I use and it’s actually what just about every blogger uses. In order to have one you will need to setup a hosting account to host your blog. I suggest using HostGator simply because once you setup your hosting account they have a feature that will auto install WordPress! That means you don’t really have to know much of anything to get your own blog live online. Pretty cool huh?

Step 2: Determine Your Topic
This is an important step. You need to determine the direction your blog is going to go in.. here are some things to think about:
A. Who is your target audience
B. What are you going to discuss on the blog
C. What revenue generating opportunities are there in that space
D. Where would you find your target audience (i.e. where do you find them to promote your blog)

Step 3: Get on a schedule
One of the most important things (I think anyway) is getting on a blogging schedule. This means just getting yourself acustom to blogging daily, every other day or weekly. It’s important to always reach out to the people reading your blog with new information on your topics. If you let your blog sit for too long without updating it people tend to forget about it. Go into your blogging with a good plan of action and you will end up more successful in the end.

Ok so how is all of this done…

Step 1: Solution
Simply go to HostGator right now and sign up. I think its like under $5/month for hosting which is pretty dang cheap. I use their service myself and they do a great job. Plus they have an affiliate program that pays you $50 for anyone you refer to them! Heck even I use that program! Step 2: Solution
This is something you simply must determine on your own. Here are some suggestions to help you decide on what might be good for you:
A. Your target audience really depends on “what you are blogging about”. I suggest writing about something that you currently like or are interested in at the moment.
B. Again like I said blog about something you enjoy or something you know a lot about. Of course it needs to be something other people are interested in as well otherwise you will never have readers!
C. Once you’ve determined your subject that will help you determine your target audience. Now it’s easy to find revenue generating opportunities that fit within that demographic or target audience.
D. Now that we know all of that information it’s pretty easy to brainstorm on how to locate and advertise your blog to your target audience. (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Forums etc)

Step 3: Solution
Discipline. Success simply does not come to those put forth no effort. Don’t expect to make millions from your blog. Trust me it will take hard work to ever make the first penny. The fact is people do make money from blogging and it can be a lucrative opportunity. Those people making money will probably tell you “blogging is my job”. Yeah they think of it as a “job” because it requires time, energy and ambition.

Well I hope this helped shed some light on blogging. My next post will give you more of the “revenue generating” ideas for blogging. For now simply stay focused on getting your blog setup and choosing your topic to blog about. The rest will come in due time!

Anyway back to my story about Twitter. I am in the process of developing some really cool and useful applications for social networks. The software will be called SocialAdsPro and will encompass Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and even YouTube. Well the Twitter software is finished and is in beta testing. One of the features I added to it is the “tweet later” feature. Basically this just means you can pre-load hundreds of tweets and then tell the software to basically “tweet every X amount of time”. What this does is make sure that your account is actively posting a new tweet throughout the entire day.

Now originally I added this feature as more of an “advertising” tool. Basically tweet 1 advertisement about your affiliate site or products for every 10 or 15 tweets you post. Seemed logical and certainly seemed like it could help drive traffic to affiliate offers. One thing I did not count on was the increase in followers I have acquired over the last 3 or 4 days. I have gained almost 100 followers and guess what? I haven’t followed a single person to get that increase!

With Twitter the big key is acquiring followers without you having to go follow 100000 people to get them. The reason for this is pretty simple Twitter has a ratio rule meaning you can’t follow more than X % of the number of people following you. This means getting people to follow you is important, if you want to build your Twitter account. So all of these “auto follow” programs are great but at a certain point if people don’t start following you back you can’t grow.

See people value information. They value it so much that they are willing to “take action” to get it. All I did was simply tweet 10 or 15 times per day about Internet Marketing and my Twitter follower list is growing every single day! I think this is a very important concept that most people completely overlook about Twitter. The program was designed with this “auto-tweet” feature to make sure I could advertise on my account, but in reality it’s more of a “gain followers” feature.

It’s not hard to make money with Twitter. There are many services like Sponsored Tweets that will actually pay you to allow them to post/tweet ads onto your Twitter account. Guess what determines how much you get paid? Typically how many followers you have and how active your account is which is exactly why I am developing this software.

I hope you learned a bit today about Twitter. Remember it’s important to tweet relevant information not just a bunch of ads. If you do this you can make your Twitter list grow and earn more money!

I’m certainly thinking ahead right now at how I can make our ChristmasForKids Charity reach more people and touch more lives this year. I have thought long and hard about possibly brining in some celebrity authors or maybe even celebrities themselves to really shine some light on our cause. I am not sure if I will be successful in my attempt, but ill never know without trying right?

I think it’s so important for us all to stop and remember those less fortunate right now. When you help others you show good character which is the most important aspect of being a successful businessmen. There is absolutely no replacing character. No amount of knowledge or skill will ever mean more than having a good heart. I truly hope that this holiday season everyone reading this blog will reach out to help someone in need. It doesn’t have to be financially which is such a common misunderstanding in our country today. There are millions of people going through divorce or mourning the loss of a loved one this holiday season. There are thousands of people dealing with losing their job and financial stress at home. There are so many ways in which you can help people by just simply being there for them during a stressful time or time of need. 

Remember giving back to people isn’t always measured by giving them dollars or cents…. it can also be measured by giving them your time, energy, devotion and compassion. So think about that as we approach the Christmas holidays and make sure you reach out to help others. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and safe travels as you visit your families around the country.

Here is a breakdown of exactly what I suggest you do in order to make this happen. Start off on AdBrite or even on Google and create a PPC ad for whatever you are marketing. You can create a written text ad or even a creative (image) ad to get started. I suggest running that ad for a minimum of one week so you can get stats on it for every day of the week including weekends. Once you have accomplished this here are the things you want to look at:

1. What is your CPC (cost per click)
2. What is your CTR (click through ratio) meaning how many people click on your ad vs how many people the ad is shown to during this time.

Here is why this is important right now you are “paying per click” but most networks offer another way to pay for your advertising which is called CPM. CPM (cost per thousand views) means you pay simply to be seen and you select how much you are willing to pay per thousand times your ad is shown. Obviously they have minimum bid amounts etc depending on the network/platform you are using to advertise. This method is great ONLY if you have a high CTR because remember you are paying to be seen so even if your ad gets no clicks you still pay.

The reason you start off with a PPC campaign is it’s like having a safety net below you. If the ad doesn’t generate clicks guess what, you don’t pay. However, once we have some data let’s assume we see the following after our first week running the ad:

1. CPC is averaging .50 (50 cents)
2. CTR is averaging 1%

If the same network says you can switch your ad over to a CPM model let’s do some math.

Assuming you pay a $2.00 CPM that would be $2.00 per 1000 times your ad is shown.

1000 impressions X 1% CTR = 10 clicks for $2.00 (since you are paying $2.00 per thousand views)

Now if the same ad is costing you .50 per click on the PPC campaign you would pay $5.00 for those same 10 clicks on the PPC model.

As you can see it’s all about testing. Write an ad utilize the safety that PPC offers you and then switch to CPM model if it makes sense. It’s pretty easy and once you get going it will get even easier to determine how it is done properly. This allows you to scale just about anything and everything you are doing!
